My name is Marek Basny. I was born on the 27th of March 1971 in
Prostejov.
In 1989 I entered the
Faculty of Science
of the
Palacky University
in Olomouc.
Here I took a five-year course in mathematics and physics
for future teachers.
In the third year of my undergraduate studies I decided to specialize in
astronomy and astrophysics. I wrote my Master's
thesis "Development of the theories of creation and evolution of space"
and in June 1994 I took a MSc. degree.
In the same year I passed an entrance examination to postgraduate studies
and I continued my studies of astronomy and astrophysics at
the
Department of Theoretical Physics and Astrophysics
at the
Faculty of Science
of
Masaryk University .
I focused my scientific work primarily on the mass transfer in close binary
systems.
I solved this problem by means of computer simulation. During my
studies I attended several conferences (19th and 20th Conference on Stellar
Astronomy of Czech and Slovak Professional Astronomers, International
Conference on Variable Star Research), where I presented the results
of my work
("A modeling mass transfer in close binary stars"). I also delivered a
few lectures on my research at a regular weekly seminar
at Department of Theoretical Physics and
Astrophysics. In the last year of my studies I performed photometry of
binary stars
(RV Tri
and
BL And)
at the department observatory.
My educational activities at university consisted of leading
educational
seminars on mathematics, astronomical observations and physics of
stars.
In 1998 I changed from internal study to part time study and began work at
company AURA like tester of software.
Following year I becomed member of implementation team and from 2000 I worked
as manager of testing. In 2001 I finished postgraduate studies of theoretical
physics and took Ph.D. degree.
